Strategy sells more BTC
Strategy sold 1,638 BTC for roughly $105 million between July 27 and August 2, reducing its holdings to around 842,000 BTC. The proceeds were used to fund preferred stock distributions and STRC repurchases, reflecting a broader shift toward managing liquidity and supporting its securities after years of aggressive bitcoin accumulation. Strategy has also paused new bitcoin purchases for several weeks and built its USD reserve to $4 billion. Despite the sales, its holdings remain worth more than $52 billion and represent roughly 4% of bitcoin's maximum supply. The sales come amid financial pressure from bitcoin's decline and weakness in Strategy's preferred shares, particularly STRC, which fell below $80 in late June. Recent initiatives have pushed STRC back above $90, with a price of $99-100 remaining a key objective. Strategy reported an $8.2 billion Q2 loss, largely from unrealized bitcoin losses. Michael Saylor stressed that the sales do not signal a change in his conviction, saying he has never sold his personal bitcoin and that Strategy's sales are part of its capital management strategy.
