Coinbase pushes to launch equity perps in the US
Coinbase is asking the SEC for approval to offer 24/7 equity perpetual futures in the U.S. The company filed a notice registration form and says there is already strong demand for these products overseas. It would also need approval from the CFTC before launching them.The move is part of a wider push to bring perpetual futures into the regulated U.S. market. The CFTC has already allowed some crypto perpetual products and is studying broader use of 24/7 trading. Coinbase currently offers perpetual futures outside the U.S. on stocks such as Apple, Microsoft, Nvidia, and Amazon.The motivation behind the move is obvious, as it may secure solid revenues during crypto “dry seasons”, and heighten overall trading activity on Coinbase.
