Uniswap served with notice of coming lawsuit
On Wednesday, Uniswap Labs, the company behind the Uniswap decentralized exchange, received a Wells notice from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). A Wells notice indicates that the SEC plans to file a lawsuit against you. According to the Wells notice, the main allegations in the potential lawsuit will be that Uniswap has acted as an unregistered securities broker and unregistered securities exchange. Uniswap's Wells notice adds to the trend of governments going after DeFi developers. In the Netherlands, the government is currently prosecuting the founders of Tornado Cash, the Ethereum privacy protocol. The first verdict in that case is expected to come in the middle of May.
